For weeks, I’ve been dealing with a stubborn mid-back pain that comes with a sharp, electric-like sensation. It hits fast, almost like a jolt, especially when I twist, bend, or stay in one position too long. It’s the kind of pain that makes you freeze for a moment and rethink whatever you were about to do.
I’m not the type who likes going to doctors. I usually tough things out and keep moving. Before I finally gave in, I even tried going to a chiropractor for a few weeks. It was nice to get adjusted and cracked again — honestly, it felt good in the moment — but it didn’t resolve the pain or stop the electric sensations.
Eventually, enough friends pushed me to get checked out. After X-rays and a full evaluation, the diagnosis came back: T12 Degenerative Back Pain. The degeneration at the T12 vertebra explains the chronic discomfort, stiffness, and the nerve-type sensations I’ve been feeling. It’s a mix of wear-and-tear and nerve irritation, and now at least I know what’s causing it.
I was also recommended to see an orthopedics or spine specialist, so look for another update in the coming weeks as I move forward with the next steps in treatment.
